A supernatural book can only be kept by a supernatural power. This supernatural power is the power of the Godhead bodily. This is the power of God to maintain and keep the purity of His own Word. – Michael Haigh. Also many other quotes by C. Macintosh, John Owens, A. Pink, and others. Continue reading.

I just voted in order of how the books are, but if anyone wants to vote on their favorites go ahead. :)
In case people don't notice, this is for the TV SHOW Supernatural, not just books on the Supernatural! Please only vote for books from the TV SHOW!
OMG! I have to read those! Supernatural is my favourite series of all time! :D

Mine, too! I haven't read all of them but most are super good.
I LOVE SUPERNATURAL BOTH AS A TV SERIES AND AS NOVELS..
I love the SuperNatural TV series. I've read samples of a couple of the books. Can anyone tell me if the books are written copies of SPN episodes or if they are completely different adventures of the Winchester boys?

They mention some major plots in the show but they are completely new stories. Actually, I read from the Supernatural Wikia that they aren't even considered official canon, so you can choose for yourself if it actually happened in the show.

A big chunk of my tax refund is going to buying these books. Have no idea where I'm going to put them all but .. :)
That's my problem all the time! So many books, but nowhere to go.. But hey, it's worth it. :)

Yup :) Usually, I get on Kindle but I want physical copies of these to keep. Love my Winchester boys! :)

I don't have any type of e-reader; I loooove having physical copies of all my books. There are stacks off books in my room because I ran out of bookshelf space. But I love it!
The ultimate question: who do you like better, Dean or Sam?

DEAN!!!!!!! Ironically, I have loved Jensen Ackles since Dark Angel and I started writing my Blood Revelation series before Supernatural came out. I based a character on Jensen Ackles, who at that point, I'd only seen in Dark Angel. In the book, he had short hair and dressed in T-shirts and jeans, said 'Dude' alot and was a general smart-alec. He was also a slayer, very protective of his brother (in this case, his older brother). When Supernatural came out I was like 'Holy crap! It's my character!' So yea, I'm a little attached to him. :)
I'm actually putting together a contest and will be giving away either a Kindle Fire, a Nook or an Amazon gift card. If you're on facebook, follow me at facebook.com/crystalrainloveauthor so you can join when it goes live!!! Everybody should have an ereader! Keeps you from getting buried under all your books. I still love larger books in print format but I love Kindle for the novellas :)

That's crazy! I will have to read it. =)
I loved Jensen Ackles in Smallville, and I kinda wanted to watch Supernatural(at this point season five was airing) but my sister told me it was stupid so I didn't. But then a few years later I watched it anyway and I was like WHAT THE HECK THIS IS AWESOME!!! And I told her she was foolish and made her watch it and it turned out the episode she was was Route 666, which is like the lamest episode. But then watching Smallville again, Jason wasn't as awesome because Dean is soooo much better. But I have seen Dark Angel! I was so confused when he died at first, because I knew he was in a whole season. But then it made sense. :)
Eh, I don't like reading from any electronic. I don't even like audiobooks. I'm very old school. ;) BUT a my dad has a Kindle and I love it for everything except reading, lol. And I would love an Amazon gift card. :) I will check it out!

Oh, no! Your books don't have a series page! I will fix that right away. :)

YES!!! It's crazy how good of an actor he is. He does everything so perfectly!
No problem. You have to be a librarian to fix it, and I love fixing things on here. It makes it all neat and tidy. :)

Thank you :) Yes, he is amazing. I would love to see him in a major mavie, something not horror. He can play anything. He'd be great in an action role, drama, or romantic comedy.
I'd rather watch him on Supernatural than a movie, though. That way there's more, and Dean is so epic.
More = Good, but he can do both. Then there's EVEN MORE. :)
True! But he was epic in My Bloody Valentine. Have you seen it?
Yep. Can't miss Jensen Ackles in 3D !!!!! He's great in everything. Devour was the worst movie ever, but he made it bearable. :) I just hate how he seems to be typecast. It is limiting. At least he did Ten Inch Hero, which was different. He was hilarious in that. :)
Love Supernatural.Sam and Dean as well but mostly Dean.
BTW is there any way to delete books off the list..Twilight doesn't really belong here. But at least it has a supernatural element to it.Why people voted for 'Miles to Go' by Miley Cyrus is beyond my comprehension.

Oh wow. Maybe as a not-so-funny joke? That is an odd selection. I don't see a way to delete. :( Maybe the list starter has that capability. Hopefully.
Goodreads should have a vote against thing as well.So when there are a lot of negative votes they can be taken of the list or something.

Thanks for bringing that up, Meghana! Librarians have the power to delete books from lists, which I am(also the list starter), so I will delete it. I've had a lot of problems with people adding random supernatural(genre) books so I've had to keep checking to delete, but I never saw a Miley Cyrus one here before. Blegh, a disgrace to Supernatural.
I also combined The Essential Supernatural: On the Road with Sam and Dean Winchester, which is apparently the same book.

No problem and thank you for deleting it. But I still don't get why people add Miley Cyrus thing in here. Like I said before Twilight is under supernatural genre.
But Miles to Go? Seriously? LOL.

I agree completely! It had to be someone just wanting that book to be on every list imaginable.
Trying to cut back on the non-Supernatural books on here, I made another list. It's Supernatural-related books. Hopefully this will stop people from voting on the wrong books here.

can someone help me figure out in order the books number 12 through 28 what they are. names of books so i can get them to read thank you for any help offered.
Not really sure what you're asking. Are the titles not showing up on your computer?
Just wondering why the Mindy Kaling book is on the list
Some people vote for books they know shouldn't be on the list - thanks for commenting, I'll remove it!
Ah, I was just wondering, it's on my to read list but if it had involved Supernatural I would have had to move it up the list lol
As I read everyone's comments I want to make sure I am clear on something. Am I correct in understanding that there are no hard copies? I don't mind reading on a reader but I don't have one. I have kids so I don't have room for one in my budget.
I have seen Jarod and Jenson in everything they have ever done. I got hooked on Supernatural when I was pregnant and on bed rest. What an AWESOME show to be stuck with.

Though I myself have only soft copies of all the Supernatural books that I own, I'm pretty sure hard copies of at least some (if not all) books are available. Here's a link for a paperback copy of Nevermore http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/super..

I think the main series are only paperback, but I know at least John Winchester's journal is in hardcover. I haven't even seen his journal in paperback. I'm not sure about the other specials, like Supernatural Book of Demons and stuff.
Does anybody know if there are any more books planned or did the just stop writing?
Uh, I hope not. But they never mention anything about these books, do they? I saw a couple of conventions and stuff on Youtube but they never mentioned anything about these books. So, we don't really know because they never talk about it.

Except for in 2008, there were at least two books published a year until 2013. So maybe they aren't selling good? I haven't heard anything official, though.
message 46: by Summer Breeze (last edited Mar 25, 2014 03:48AM) (new)
Really? The show has a huge fandom, at least according to Tumblr. So I have a hard time believing the books aren't selling well. But I'm sure a little more advertising wouldn't hurt. Because not many people even know about these books. I read only one of them so I don't know much but, it was excellent and the ratings of the other books are like the highest of all my shelves.
Supernatural Books Series
I'm guessing that's exactly it - people don't know about them. But I'm just guessing; I have no proof for it. Which book did you read? I've only read three, and I liked two of those.
You should read more of them, they provide great insight to some aspects of the Winchesters' personality. I have read seven of them, and except for one that was actually boring, the rest of them I found very entertaining. I really hope they publish more books because I intend to buy the ones I don't have..and I don't want to have no books to read! xD
No books to read? I don't think that will ever happen. xD Right now my to-read list is bigger than my read list. There are just so many that look interesting!

What did you guys read and which ones didn't you like?
I read The Supernatural Book of Monsters, Spirits, Demons and Ghouls. It didn't have one continuous story or anything but had little snippets of cases before their father went missing and quite a lot about the legends behind all of the monsters. It was pretty great and even had pictures and stuff. It was a little funny/witty sometimes as well, kinda like the show :)

Well this was disappointing. I finally got to read this book because of a challenge I'm doing with the wonderful Winchester boys, BUT, I didn't like the book like I was hoping.
The story with the ghost was decent enough but it was just weird reading about Sam & Dean. I couldn't really picture them as themselves in the show, which is one of my fav shows.
They talk about the Impala and music and some funny stuff from Dean, but it just wasn't the same. Damn it!

I don't think Keith DeCandido did as much research on the show as he claims he did in his author's notes in the back of the book. He shows a decided lack of insight into the personalities of both Sam and Dean, in particular, Dean. Hell, he couldn't even get their physical descriptions right! All we get are vague descriptions that could be anybody. Or maybe he just assumed we would know who he was talking about from a few brief lines of text?

Not a bad job on this novel, since it is based off a tv series. Being a fan of the series, I can be a bit critical about staying in character. I am used to movies based on books but this was the opposite. The tv series came first, then this.
This particular story sees the brothers to New York to help out a friend of a friend with a ghost haunting him, calling out 'love me.' While there, they take on another, darker case. Someone is creating a murder ritual to bring Edgar Allen Poe back to life...more

If I had to describe this book in less than ten words:
I've read better fan-fiction.
Seriously. Without a doubt, this is one of the top ten Worst Books I've Ever Read. It was a struggle to get through.
I didn't go into Nevermore expecting much, just a good, fun, stupid read about my latest TV obsession, but I expected the author to at least get Sam and Dean's characterization down. Within the first thirty pages, I was completely horrified by just how 'off' they were:

Dean is an idiot whose sole inte..more
I wanted more of Sam and Dean and i got them and their personality and attitude shown through a bit. I really wanted to love it but it was slow going and i got bored. I liked picturing sam and dean on the new hunt and the Edgar Poe mystery was interesting.

This was a decent tie in novel and I could totally see it as an actual episode - the characterization of Sam and Dean's pretty on the nose and it has a decent sense of humor. Now, if only the conclusion to both cases, Poe and the haunting, was a little more satisfying. Nevermore is set early on in season two and I think it would have made a fun episode seeing the brothers in their younger days. Favorite moments: p. 171, 'Sam shrugged as he sipped his coffee. 'What can I tell you, Dean, it [The M..more

Alright . Let me start by saying that I am a HUGE SPN fan (well. duh.)
I was ecstatic when I realized that some genius (more than one someone) had written books to this series.
Because, I really really do love me them books. I had to read them. now. right now!
But then my rational side kicked in and was all like

I like the extra things the author threw in - such as the recommended soundtrack at the end of the book. I like that you can tell the author loves the Bronx. I like that the author has the same suppurating mental scars as we all do who have tried to find parking in a large metropolitan area.
On the other hand, descriptions of driving and the mechanics of how to fit a large car into a small space .. let's just say a little goes a long way. Also, the author's Dean is not my Dean. Neither is his Sa..more

Yes, I read some Supernatural fan fiction, and I thought it was pretty great. So don't you judge me!
The author did a fantastic job of switching between the brothers perspective throughout the story, and captured their personalities and inner monologues pretty perfectly. The plot was a bit predictable - just like the show - and mimicked the show pretty well in terms of pacing, characterization, etc.

This book had some problems, yet I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The author didn't do the boys justice when he wrote them, he made Dean too.. silly and Sam too uptight, but it's Supernatural and I'll read pretty much anything about it.
I love Supernatural with all of my being and every little fiber of my heart, so naturally, I ran to this book with open arms. And all in all, it wasn't terrible. But it's really the little things that got at me.
The biggest issue I had: Sammich is not and will never be acceptable.
But it was pretty good, I mean it was basically like reading iffy fanfiction. Let's be real; I read Redemption Road so I've got some pretty high standards. This was alright though. Enjoyable, just not up there. The mom..more

Yay!!!! Nice to see Sam and Dean in their own novel. The Poe Murders were very interesting. Glad resurrection doesn't happen in real life. Also glad that they were able to figure out who killed Roxy. Hope more cops will help the hunters.
Can't wait to read Witch's Canyon!!!!

I love this series, and this book almost read like an episode! I just missed a little of Deans sarcasm, they could have cranked that up a bit.

There are four of us in a group of some of my best friends, and we're all fans of the show Supernatural (though some of us are more caught up than others, ahem). Along the way, we even acquired nicknames from the main characters, and it should surprise none of you that I'm Sam. So when I stumbled across copies of media tie-in novels, written by one of my favorite media tie-in authors, I had to snag a few.

I make no secret of how much I enjoy the show Supernatural, the characters, and the story and I have also made no secret of my love of the books, by all the different authors that have written for these books since their inception.
This is the first Supernatural story, so it is basically the one that all others are based off of, and this one did not disappoint. With a healthy dose of Poe, and the usual hunting and brotherly bantering that can only be seen in a Supernatural episode, this was a ha..more

In every novel I read, there are always standard points that I ramble on about; plot, pacing, characters, writing style, etc. Such always helps me express my sentiments and reactions to the book I've just read.
However, sometimes doing this is damned impossible.
Generally, such has always been the case for Sherrilyn Kenyon's books and JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. When I'm immersed body, mind and soul into a novel, I can't analyze it in the same manner I would with other books. The character..more

The blurb promises a lot more than you'll get.
You won't be surprised that with a title Nevermore plus a specific setting, it has to be about Poe or his works. Someone is trying to recreate a resurrection ritual killing people in a manner found in Poe's stories and poems. Now, I love Poe and usually when his motifs are used in fiction, I like it. Here, it fell flat. Oh, and boring. Dean calling Sam Sammich (I don't remember that ever happening) and listing every single band and their songs did..more

Okay! So I've been taking a break from the show for a few months now (I'm only on season 3) and I missed these characters so I picked this up. Yes..I read a book based on a TV series.
It wasn't bad. It wasn't great either, but it wasn't bad. My daughter loves the Supernatural series, turns out my wife did to. I'm now watching the DVDs.
I'll probably read the other books given time (okay, so I'm a nerd..or possibly a geek, I'm never sure of the difference). I 'sort-of' like the series (don't get your theology from it or anything), and I sort-of like the books. Brain candy for sure, but still fun.

Being a big fan of Supernatural, when I realized there was a book series I was curious and at the same time scared. After all, when books are written after tv series or movies there always seems to be something lacking for me and well.. this fell into that category.

For what it was, this was a great read. Fit perfectly with the tone and chronology of the TV series, as well as the nuance and personality of the characters. Wasn’t the sexiest ending, but kept me turning the pages.

I just remembered I read this once back when I loved this show and god this book was such a bad attempt at writing these characters. Not in character at all, but he tried? The plot was kinda okay but it was not done well at all.

Supernatural: Nevermore is my first foray into the world of the Supernatural tie-in novels. I'd been wanting to read one of the books for some time and by a lucky happenstance, I found this title at my library. The fact that it's the first of the tie-in novels was an added bit of serendipity. I have to say, I'm mighty pleased with the book. In my opinion, the author really nailed the voices and characterizations of Sam and Dean. Throughout the book, the dialogue and rapport between the two were..more

I am such a sap for this TV series. I think it is one of the best written science fiction shows on television and definitely one of the more witty since Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly. The television shows' strong themes of family and fighting the good fight are still present in this book. However, the writing is on par with that of other novels based on pop culture series. DeCandido had Sam's voice penned from the beginning, but I didn't start hearing Dean's voice until about three quarte..more
